Tax Director

Salary: $130000 - $160000

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, oversight and accountability over all tax affairs of the company worldwide, whether strategic or tactical;
Direct activities of tax department staff responsible for accounting for income taxes, technical research compliance, process improvement and risk and controls assessment;
Direct and monitor compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements;
Communicate complicated tax issues in terms of the impact on business operations and financial reporting;
Maintain appropriate tax policies, procedures and controls worldwide to protect company assets, comply with tax laws;
Provide active support in the companys strategic decision-making (including mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions) to ensure that senior managements future planning takes into account tax considerations;
Maintain an understanding of the companys global business developments, investments, activities and business strategies and advise senior management on the various tax planning strategies to enhance shareholder value;
Assess and understand the companys financial orientation for tax risk, ensuring that tax strategies are in keeping with the overall financial plans and objectives for the organization;
Proactively manage and develop tax staff creating a positive environment whereby staff is challenged, motivated and groomed for advancement within the department;
Direct and monitor tax audit and controversy activities to defend the companys tax positions;
Collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including executive management, financial reporting, investment accounting, treasury, legal and operating unit accounting personnel; and
Direct external communications with tax advisors including tax counsel, external auditor, federal, state, local and other tax policy decision-makers and enforcement officials.
Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of 10Q and 10K footnotes and all supporting schedules and workpapers
Prepare/maintain FIN 48 listings, including any appropriate reports and documentation


Qualifications/Competencies/Experience:

Requires a bachelors degree in accounting or related field with at least seven years of Tax and/or SEC Reporting experience in a large accounting firm or corporation
At least 2 years experience with income tax law on federal and state levels as well as GAAP accounting for income and other taxes, including FAS 109 and FIN 48.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, as well as online tax research tools, including CCH and BNA; working knowledge of TaxStream and other tax accounting and return preparation software.
Preferred Skills:
A graduate degree in accounting, tax or an MBA and a CPA or CPA candidate is highly desirable.
